February 2008 HOODVIEW CHAPTER NEWS

Happy Valentine's Day!

Yes, this month's meeting is on Valentine's Day, so bring that special someone with you and make sure you buy plenty of tickets for the Canon digital camera, it will be drawn at the meeting and somebody should go home happy.

Our annual Sportsman's Banquet is coming up! It will be held on February 23rd in the Rose Room at the Rosegarden in Portland, click here for the banquet flyer containing an order form. Next up is our annual Powell Butte work party on March 1st. Please meet in the upper parking lot (as usual) with your favorite work gloves and shovel. They asked for us to just plant trees this year, so I guess we need to leave the chainsaws in the trucks this time.

You can read our chapter newsletters on-line with Acrobat Reader, or download and print your own copy, click here to download a free version of Acrobat Reader. Your newsletter editor/webmaster has been neglecting the website for entirely too long, but I am back now. Familiar story, I know, but now that I have the active support of several chapter members, including Troy and Shelley Chase, Leroy Loos, Don Lyon, Frank Gifford, Rick Williams, and Chris Brong, I might be able to keep it together for a while. On the other hand, if there is anyone out there who has the time and inclination to do a better job than I have done the last 2+ years, please feel free to step up.

Recently, our rights and heritage as hunters have come under increasing attack. The Links page now has links to the US Sportsmen's Alliance and the Sportsmen's and Animal Owners Voting Alliance. Please take a moment to check their web pages. The US Sportsmen's Alliance, in particular.

We are also working on a form that will enable you to receive an e-mail with a link to the newsletter every month if you prefer that over having one mailed to you. In the meantime, if you want to receive a notification via e-mail when the newsletter is available here, just drop a line to webmaster@ohahoodview.org and I'll put your name on the list.
